Tom Bresnahan, 59
That win grew into a decade-long practice, guiding hundreds of families toward firm boundaries, united parenting, and self-driven sons.
Now, as Momentum’s Co-Founder & Lead Coach, Tom is scaling his proven system so families get help sooner. Backed by 15 years in recovery counseling and family-systems work, he offers more than advice: Momentum delivers the structure, brotherhood, and measured push that turns potential into real-world momentum.
Alex Milligan, 31
What he needed wasn’t more advice. It was structure, accountability, and a group of peers to grow with. Over time, he found his way, but it was a slow, painful, and lonely process. His story isn’t rare.
I started Momentum to build the program he, and so many others, never had. We’re here to help young men rebuild not just their habits, but their belief in who they can become.

Dr. Jeff Chen, 36
What no one tells you is that doing hard things never really gets easier, you just get better at doing them. It’s a skill like anything else. You learn to keep showing up and to move forward even when motivation fades.
That’s why I coach. love helping young men find clarity, build conviction, and realize they’re capable of more than they’ve been led to believe. To do the work is hard. But so is staying stuck. And one of those actually leads somewhere.
What's the curriculum like?
Building Foundations
We set the stage for transformation around mindset, health, planning, and peer trust:
- “Truth Inventory” Workshop: a guided, written audit of habits, emotions, finances, and family stressors
- Family Sync Session: a huddle with you, your coach, and your parents so everyone’s on the same page and backing the goals you want to hit. No mixed signals, just clear support.
- Learn how to set goals and track progress against them
- Establish healthy fitness, diet, and sleep habits
- Accept ownership of responsibility and adopt a growth mindset
- Build trust, accountability, and encouragement within your peer group
- Begin exploring career paths and technical skills
Learn Accountability and Skills
This phase deepens accountability, widens skill exposure, and begins inner-work:
- Identify unprocessed events driving self-sabotage and learn CBT & mindfulness tools
- Maintain & refine fitness, diet, sleep habits
- Explore career paths through informational interviews and career discovery exercises
- Begin developing technical and professional skills (with emphasis on integrating AI-tools) tailored to your interests
- Continue with mindset and values education, focusing on developing grit and resilience
Real-World Application
We move from practice to performance, stressing career readiness and real-life responsibility:
- Career-Launch Projects: résumé refresh, mock interviews, networking challenges, entrepreneurial side-projects
- Shadow & Serve: volunteer/service or job shadowing to inject higher-stakes responsibility
- Vice de-escalation through structured reduction (or taper) of vaping, alcohol, porn/gaming, etc.
- Refine fitness & mental-health routines to sustain peak performance under load
- Weekly relational-skills challenges to boost confidence and social fluency
Launch and Thrive
Finally, we cement lasting change, helping you prepare for independence while celebrating your progress. You'll:
- Capstone Independence Plan: finalize career/education track, housing/budget, and habit-maintenance schedule
- 360° Growth Review: student, parents, and peers complete a structured evaluation comparing Month 1 → Month 7
- Create your plan to maintain habits and achieve long-term success
- Cement your initiation into independence, culminating in a team excursion and celebration
- Achieve agency and clarity to transition into a life of purpose
Frequently asked questions
It’s a structured, online experience (with real world application and daily accountability) that delivers deep behavioral change across health, mindset, habits, and career. It’s not a one-off program, it’s a path to a new life.
Momentum is designed for young men (16-30) who are struggling to transition into adulthood, whether that’s due to low motivation, social isolation, lack of confidence, career stagnation, unhealthy habits, or related issues. It’s for those who are capable but stuck, struggling to take responsibility, build discipline, and move forward in life. It’s also for families who have tried everything and want a structured, proven solution that actually works.
Momentum isn’t just a men’s group, it’s a structured, expert-designed growth system that blends live coaching, skill-building, and accountability into a transformative experience. Unlike other solutions, Momentum is: group-oriented, high frequency, and long-duration (not just an occasional meet-up), led by accomplished, well-paid coaches (not just peers offering advice), backed by behavioral science and career development principles (not just vague self-improvement ideas), and focused on real-world growth in health, career, and relationships (not just emotional support or generic “men’s coaching”). Beyond structure, every student's experience is personalized. Coaches work one-on-one to tailor goals, adjust the curriculum, and ensure each young man is challenged in ways that fit his unique strengths and struggles.
Momentum operates on a digital-first model: you join small, live video groups each week for face-to-face coaching and peer support, track your goals and daily habits inside our private group chat where teammates can see and nudge your progress, and tackle real-world missions that you report back on at the next session. Optional meet-ups and weekend intensives still happen, but the heart of the program is fully online, built to integrate seamlessly with your everyday life rather than pull you out of it.
No, Momentum is not therapy, but it does integrate proven therapeutic practices, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles, that help students reshape negative thought patterns and take control of their actions. While traditional therapy often focuses on analyzing the past, Momentum is about moving forward, building habits, and developing real-world skills. Our coaches don’t diagnose or treat mental health conditions, but they do help members cultivate healthy mindsets, emotional resilience, and personal responsibility, all of which are essential for breaking out of stagnation and creating lasting change. That said, for members who do need therapy, Momentum can complement it by reinforcing action-oriented growth.
Parents are partners from the sidelines, not on the field every play. You’ll take part in an initial “Family Sync” call to set a united front and agree on house guidelines, then receive short check-ins, mini-trainings, and progress snapshots so you can reinforce boundaries at home without slipping back into rescue mode. We ask you to model the same calm communication and follow-through your son is practicing, but the day-to-day reps are his. Your job is to provide steady structure, encouragement, and a clear mirror, not to micromanage.
Momentum coaches are high-achieving professionals with proven career success and strong personal values. Unlike other programs that hire underpaid, inexperienced coaches, ours are carefully selected for both expertise and character. Each coach undergoes rigorous training to teach the Momentum curriculum while also bringing their own life experience and wisdom to the coaching process. Their role is not just to instruct, but to challenge, support, and inspire members to take full ownership of their lives.
Momentum is available to young men across the U.S. and Canada. We try to match you with teammates who live in or near your city so you can chase goals together offline, and we host optional weekend retreats and pop-up meet-ups in major hubs throughout the year.
